Telephonophobia is the fear or aversion to telephones. It is a specific phobia characterized by anxiety or discomfort related to making or receiving phone calls. People with telephonophobia may experience symptoms such as sweating, trembling, rapid heartbeat, or avoidance behaviors when they have to use the telephone. This fear can stem from various factors, including fear of speaking to strangers, fear of awkward or uncomfortable conversations, fear of unexpected or bad news, or fear of being judged or criticized over the phone.
Telephone phobia (telephonophobia, telephobia, phone phobia) is reluctance or fear of making or taking phone calls, literally, “fear of telephones”. It is considered to be a type of social phobia or social anxiety.
