Myopia or nearsightedness is a vision condition in which we can see close objects clearly, but objects farther away appear blurred.
Myopia occurs if the eyeball is too long or the cornea is too curved. As a result, the light entering the eye isn’t focused correctly, and the image of the distant object is formed in front of the retina.
People who spend considerable time reading, working at a computer, playing video games or doing other intense close visual work may be more likely to develop myopia.
This defect can be corrected by using spectacles with concave lens of suitable focal length or power. Other treatment options are contact lenses, multifocal lenses, atropine drops, orthokeratology, refractive surgery, and LASIK.
