Doraphobia is the fear of touching animal skins or fur. People with doraphobia may experience anxiety, distress, or even panic attacks when they come into contact with animal hides or fur, whether on living animals or as clothing and other products. The term comes from the Greek word “dora,” meaning skin, hide, or leather, combined with “phobia,” meaning fear.
