CGST stands for Central Goods and Services Tax. It is a tax levied by the central government on the supply of goods and services within a state. CGST is one of the key components of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime introduced in India in July 2017. It replaces various central taxes such as Central Excise Duty, Service Tax, Additional Customs Duty (CVD), Special Additional Duty of Customs (SAD), etc.
