A device was invented to measure the acceleration or vibration of motion of a structure, which is termed an Accelerometer. So, basically, the accelerometer is an electromechanical device that measures the acceleration forces. Such forces can be static like gravitational force or, maybe, dynamic, as in the case of mobile devices. Accelerometers are actively used in many electronics today, and it plays an active role in a wide range of functionalities.
