Acrolein is an organic compound with the chemical formula C₃H₄O. It is a colorless, volatile liquid with a pungent odor, commonly used as an intermediate in the production of various chemicals, such as acrylic acid. Acrolein is also known for its use as a herbicide and for its role in the manufacture of certain plastics and resins. Due to its toxicity, it can be harmful if inhaled or ingested.
