    The sexual fusion of haploid cells is called karyogamy, the result of which is the formation of a diploid cell called the zygote or zygospore. Zygote. Zygote formation: egg cell after fertilization with a sperm.

    The fusion of male and female gamete also known as fertilization results to the formation of zygote. It is diploid(46 chromosomes) where as the gametes are haploid(23 chromosomes)

    A zygote cell also called a diploid cell, is formed when a male gamete and female gamete fuse during fertilization. Each gamete is haploid (mean has 23 chromosomes), after fertilization it becomes diploid (has 46 chromosomes).
