A grandmaster (GM) is the highest title awarded by FIDE, the international chess federation. It signifies exceptional skill and achievement in chess. To become a grandmaster, a player must achieve three GM norms in tournaments and reach a rating of 2500 or higher. Grandmasters are respected and influential figures in the chess community.
