The pancreas is a vital organ with both digestive and endocrine functions. It produces enzymes that help break down carbohydrates, proteins, and fats in the small intestine. Additionally, the pancreas produces insulin and glucagon, hormones that regulate blood sugar levels. Insulin lowers blood sugar, while glucagon raises it, keeping the body’s glucose levels balanced. Pancreatic dysfunction, such as in diabetes, can have severe consequences, underscoring its importance in overall health.
