Proxima d is a planet that orbits the star Proxima Centauri, which is the closest star to our Sun. It’s one of the planets in a nearby star system, just over 4 light-years away from Earth. Proxima d is a smaller, rocky planet, and while we don’t know a lot about its exact conditions, it’s intriguing because it’s in a location where temperatures might allow for liquid water. Scientists are excited about it because studying planets like Proxima d helps us learn more about our cosmic neighborhood and the potential for finding planets similar to Earth.
