World War I.
The conflict known as “The War to End All Wars” refers to World War I (1914-1918). This term reflects the widespread hope and belief among many at the time that the unprecedented scale and devastation of World War I would lead to such a profound and transformative change in international relations that it would prevent any future major conflicts. However, this hope was ultimately not realized, as World War II followed just over two decades later.
