Students can learn much more than just how to operate a 3D printer by creating their own 3D-printed designs. The process helps them turn ideas into physical objects while applying concepts from science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
Through designing and printing their own models, students can develop creativity, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills. They learn how to use measurements, geometry, CAD software, and basic engineering principles to create objects that work as intended.
3D printing also teaches students about design thinking and iteration. A first design may not work perfectly, so students can identify problems, modify their designs, print new versions, and test them again.
