The primary difference is the location where these storms occur. Cyclones are found in the Indian Ocean and South Pacific, hurricanes occur in the Atlantic and North Pacific, and typhoons are found in the Northwest Pacific. The storms are essentially the same phenomenon but are named differently depending on their location.
