The cell cycle consists of interphase (G1, S, and G2 phases) and mitotic phase (mitosis and cytokinesis). During interphase, the cell grows, replicates its DNA, and prepares for cell division. Mitosis is the division of the cell nucleus, while cytokinesis is the division of the cytoplasm to form two daughter cells.
