Smoking is a major cause of respiratory diseases, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), lung cancer, asthma, respiratory infections, and cardiovascular diseases. It also increases the risk of heart disease, high blood pressure, peripheral artery disease, cancer, and reproductive issues. Pregnancy complications can also result from smoking. Smoking weakens the immune system, and increases the risk of infections, bone density reduction, dental health issues, and vision loss. Smoke can cause similar health problems, especially in children and non-smoking adults, including respiratory infections, asthma, and heart disease.
