Answer: The human tongue can detect five primary tastes:
Sweet: A pleasant taste typically associated with sugars and carbohydrates.

Bitter: An unpleasant taste often associated with alkaloids and certain toxins. It can also serve as a warning signal for potentially harmful substances.
Umami: A savory taste associated with broths, meats, and fermented foods. It is caused by the detection of glutamate, an amino acid.
