The four types of comets are periodic comets, non-periodic comets, comets with no meaningful orbit, and lost comets.
Comets are sorted into four categories:
1. Periodic comets- These comets have an orbit (e.g. Halley’s Comet)
2. Non-periodic comets – These do not have a regular orbit (e.g. Comet Hale–Bopp)
3. Comets with no meaningful orbit (the Great Comet of 1106)
4. Lost comets (5D/Brorsen)
