The term “ecosystem” was enunciated by Arthur Tansley, a British ecologist, in 1935. Tansley defined an ecosystem as a dynamic complex of plant, animal, and microorganism communities and their non-living environment interacting as a functional unit. His concept emphasized the interrelationships and interactions among organisms and their physical environment within a defined space. This definition laid the foundation for modern ecosystem ecology and provided a framework for understanding the structure, function, and dynamics of ecological systems.
The term ecosystem was coined by A G Tansley. Ecosystem is the interaction of living organisms. with their physical environment in a particular unit of space.
