The Santhal Revolt of 1855-56 was led by the brothers Sidhu and Kanhu Murmu. They were prominent leaders in the uprising against British rule and the exploitation by local landlords and moneylenders in the Santhal region, which is now part of modern-day Jharkhand and West Bengal.
