Drop manholes are provided when there is change in elevation of ground level. A drop manhole reduces the turbulence in the manhole when the elevation difference between the incoming and outflow sewers is greater than 0.5 meter. Sloping ground, with drop more than 0.6 m is required to control the gradient.
