The Nehru-Mahalanobis Strategy is the base of India’s Second Five-Year Plan, which spanned from 1956 to 1961. This plan emphasized the development of heavy industries and aimed at laying the foundation for a strong industrial base in the country. The strategy was influenced by the ideas of India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, and the prominent Indian statistician, Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis.
