A barometer is a scientific instrument used to measure atmospheric pressure, also called barometric pressure.
A barometer is an instrument that is used to measure the air pressure. It was invented in the year 1643 by an Italian scientist named Evangelista Torricelli. He closely studied the characteristics of mercury when placed in a vacuum and used that theory to develop the first barometer.
