From what we know so far, the Parandur airport project has been dropped by the Tamil Nadu government. The project faced a lot of concerns, especially around agricultural land and the impact on nearby villages.
But this doesn’t mean Chennai’s second airport plan is completely cancelled. The government is still looking at other locations and also plans to expand the existing Chennai airport.
So, basically, Parandur may be off, but the idea of a second airport for Chennai is still very much alive.
