Yes. From 2024, it is made mandatory for all Indian students to take NEET to study medicine abroad.
In most cases, yes—NEET is necessary to study medicine abroad if you want to practice in India later.
According to NMC rules, Indian students must qualify NEET before taking admission to MBBS/MD programs abroad (Russia, Ukraine, Georgia, Philippines, Kazakhstan, etc.). Without NEET, your degree may not be recognized in India.
However, some countries allow admission without NEET, but that’s usually not useful if your long-term plan is to return to India.
