A hydraulic ram is a large device in which a piston or plunger is displaced by the pressure of a fluid. A hydraulic ram is a sealed cylinder attached to a piston. When oil flows into one side of the cylinder, it pushes the piston up. A hydraulic ram was used to raise the front end of the car.
