From my experience, IRCTC food quality depends on the train and vendor. In premium trains like Rajdhani or Shatabdi, the food is usually decent, hygienic, and served hot. However, in some regular trains, it can feel average or not as tasty as expected. Many passengers also prefer ordering through IRCTC e-catering partners, where you can get food from reputed restaurants delivered to your seat, which is often much better in taste and quality. So overall, it’s a mixed experience—sometimes good, sometimes average, but e-catering is definitely a better option if you want variety and quality.
