According to Hindu mythology, Badrinath is associated with the Mahabharata epic and the Pandavas, the central characters of the epic. It is believed that after the Kurukshetra war, the Pandavas embarked on a journey to attain salvation. During their journey, they visited Badrinath, where they met Lord Vishnu in his form as Badrinath. It is said that the Pandavas transcended to heaven from Badrinath, leaving behind Draupadi and a dog, symbolizing their final test before attaining moksha (liberation).
