Uniaxial Geogrid strengthens soil by providing tensile reinforcement within an engineered soil structure. Soil particles interact with the grid openings, creating resistance against movement when the structure experiences pressure or loading. This interaction helps transfer forces from the soil to the reinforcement material. Unlike ordinary soil, which has limited resistance to tension, the geogrid can carry tensile loads along its stronger direction. This makes it useful for applications where lateral soil movement must be controlled. For example, in a reinforced retaining wall, layers of geogrid are installed within compacted backfill at specified intervals.
