Topology is the study of properties that remain unchanged under continuous transformations, such as stretching or bending, but not tearing. In contrast, traditional geometry focuses on specific shapes and their properties, such as angles and distances. Topology considers more abstract concepts like connectedness and compactness, making it a more flexible branch of mathematics.
