    One of the unique features of Pilates is that it builds strength through controlled movement rather than heavy lifting. Every exercise is carefully designed to engage multiple muscle groups simultaneously, especially the deep stabilizing muscles around the abdomen, spine, hips, and shoulders. During a Pilates session, your body works against resistance created by your own body weight, springs on a Reformer machine, resistance bands, or other Pilates equipment. Instead of performing fast repetitions, movements are slow, precise, and focused on maintaining proper alignment throughout the exercise.
