If you prefer simplicity, diversification, and professional management, mutual funds or ETFs are likely the better choice. They offer broad diversification and are managed by professionals, making them suitable for investors who don’t have the time or expertise to pick individual stocks. On the other hand, if you enjoy researching and selecting specific companies, and are willing to take on higher risk for potentially higher returns, investing in individual stocks may be more suitable. Consider your goals, risk tolerance, time commitment, and expertise before making a decision.

deciding between individual stocks and mutual funds/ETFs hinges on your investment objectives and risk tolerance. Individual stocks can offer greater potential for high returns but come with higher risk due to lack of diversification. Mutual funds/ETFs provide instant diversification across multiple stocks or assets, reducing risk but potentially limiting upside. Assess your investment goals, time horizon, and comfort with risk to determine the best fit for your portfolio.

First I would like to tell you what stocks and mutual mean in simple language.
Stock : A stock represents a share of ownership in a company. When a company like Reliance, Infosys does well, those who own shares receive the benefit. As the company grows the stock or share prices goes up, giving an opportunity to the buyers to Sell at a price higher than they bought.
Whereas, Mutual fund is a pooled investment that contains shares of many different assets. Many mutual funds include a wide range of stocks and bonds. When you buy shares of mutual fund, you receive a slice of everything included.
If you want something that’s easy to trade, and has low trading costs with large gains you can invest in stocks. But if you want diversification you can invest in mutual funds. As, owning a diversified portfolio of stocks is less volatile it can prove to be a good option.

Choosing between individual stocks and mutual funds/ETFs depends on factors like risk tolerance, time availability, and expertise. Individual stocks offer potential for higher returns but require research and monitoring. Mutual funds/ETFs provide diversification and are managed by professionals, making them suitable for hands-off investors. Consider your goals and preferences when making this decision.
