Ranked-choice voting (RCV) allows voters to rank candidates in order of preference, which can lead to more representative outcomes by ensuring that winners have broad support. RCV can reduce the impact of “spoiler” candidates, encourage more civil campaigns, and increase the likelihood of electing candidates who are preferred by a majority, rather than just a plurality.
