Ancient Indian mathematicians made several groundbreaking contributions to mathematics. One of the most notable figures is Aryabhata, who lived in the 5th century CE. He introduced the concept of zero and developed the place-value system, which was crucial for mathematical calculations. Another key figure is Brahmagupta, who formulated rules for arithmetic involving zero and negative numbers. Additionally, the ancient Indian mathematicians developed trigonometry and algebraic equations, with their work influencing later mathematicians in the Islamic Golden Age and beyond. Their mathematical innovations laid foundational principles that are still used in modern mathematics.
