Varanasi, one of the oldest cities in the world and a major pilgrimage site in India, is approximately 700 kilometers from Kolkata. The most common way to travel there is by train or road. By train, you can board a direct train from Howrah Junction in Kolkata to Varanasi Junction, with the journey taking around 11 to 12 hours via express or superfast trains. If you prefer to travel by road, you can take the National Highway 19 (NH19), which offers a comfortable journey of approximately 14 to 15 hours by car or bus, depending on traffic and road conditions. Both train and road options provide easy access to Varanasi’s ghats, temples, and spiritual atmosphere, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the city’s rich cultural heritage.
