DNA replication is the process by which a cell makes an identical copy of its DNA. It involves unwinding the double helix structure, separating the DNA strands, and using each strand as a template to synthesize a new complementary strand. This process is catalyzed by enzymes such as DNA polymerase and occurs during the S phase of the cell cycle.
