The Battle of Taraori, also known as the First Battle of Tarain, fought in 1191 near present-day Karnal, was a significant historical event. It was a major conflict between the forces of Prithviraj Chauhan, the ruler of the Chauhan dynasty, and Muhammad Ghori. Prithviraj Chauhan emerged victorious in this battle. However, this victory was short-lived as Ghori returned the following year to defeat Prithviraj in the Second Battle of Tarain, leading to the establishment of Muslim rule in Northern India.
