Asia’s first Export Processing Zone (EPZ) was established in Kandla, Gujarat, India, in 1965. It was set up to promote exports by providing a conducive environment for manufacturing and trade activities, including tax incentives and infrastructure support, aimed at boosting industrial growth and foreign trade.
