“Invincible” is the tenth and final studio album by the American singer Michael Jackson, released on October 30, 2001, by Epic Records.

It was Jackson’s last album before his death in 2009. It features appearances from Carlos Santana, the Notorious B.I.G., and Slash. It incorporates R&B, pop and soul, and similarly to Jackson’s previous material, the album explores themes such as love, romance, isolation, media criticism, and social issues. Invincible has sold between 8 to 10 million copies worldwide.

The album’s creation was expensive and laborious, featuring the work of ten record producers and over 100 musicians. Jackson started the multi-genre production in 1997 and did not finish until eight weeks before the album’s release. It was reported that it cost $30 million to record; as of July 2024, it remains the most expensive album ever made.

Invincible debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 albums chart in the United States and in ten other countries worldwide. It was certified double platinum in the US in January 2002. The lead single, “You Rock My World”, reached number ten on the US Billboard Hot 100 and was nominated for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance at the 2002 Grammy Awards.

In1816, the British organized the campaign known as the Pindari War which exterminated them under the supreme command of Lord Hastings.

Pindaris were irregular horsemen, plunderers or forgets that robbed and hunted with the Maratha armies in central India during the 18th century. They followed the Maratha bands who raided Mughal territory.

The name is Marathi and probably derives from two words, meaning “bundle of grass” and “who takes.”

Kumble achieved the historic feat in the Delhi Test at the Feroz Shah Kotla ground (now Arun Jaitley Stadium) against arch-rivals Pakistan.
Prior to Kumble, England’s Jim Laker held the record of dismissing all 10 batsmen in an innings of a Test match, achieving the incredible feat against Australia in 1956.

Kumble bowled 26.3 overs, including 9 maidens, and swept the Pakistan batting line-up in front of a jam-packed stadium. He conceded just 74 runs in his spell.

He achieved this feat 8 times.

India made its debut as a Test-cricket-playing-nation in England in 1932 led by CK Nayudu.

The team performed well, with Mohammad Nissar taking 5-93 and 1–42 in the match against England. The match was given test status despite being only 3 days in length. England, batting first, scored 258 with Nissar cleaning up the openers and tailenders. However the Indian team failed to capitalize on their bowling performance, all out for 189 with CK Nayudu the top scorer with 40 runs. England went on to score 275 and set India a target of 346, which always seemed out of the visitor’s grasp. India were all out for 187 and lost by 158 runs.

India’s first ever Test victory came against England at Madras in 1952. India’s first series victory was against Pakistan later the same year.

The consequences of the 1857 revolt were significant and brought about important changes:

    1) The British crown took over as the rule of East India company ended

The revolt of 1857 caused the transfer of powers from the hands of the East India Company to the crown of England. This was achieved under the better government of India act of 1858. Under this act, India came into direct control under the crown, which started acting through a state secretary. The secretary was directly responsible to the British crown. An Indian council consisting of 15 members was created, out of which at least nine should have served India for at least ten years. The state secretary presided over this council. However, the central administration continued to remain in the hands of the governor-general. The governor-general also became the viceroy to the queen of England.

    2) New structure for the Indian government

Under the better government act, the home government in India has to exercise the crown’s power. The Indian council was formed by 15 members, of which nine should have been serving India for at least ten years. This consisted of the state secretary, assisted by the Indian council. The court of directors elected the other six members of the Indian council. In 1907, two Indians were also selected as part of the Indian council. With this, the framing of a new government with different rules began in India.

Kaagaz Ke Phool was the first Indian cinemascope film.

It is a 1959 romantic drama film produced and directed by Guru Dutt, who also played the lea role in the film along with Waheeda Rehman. It marked a technical revolution in Indian cinematography and is widely considered to be ahead of its time.

The film was a box office disaster in its time owing to its theme which the masses could not identify with, but was later resurrected as a cult classic in the 1980s. Its failure, both critically and commercially, severely impacted Guru Dutt and brought his studio on the verge of ruins. Dutt never officially directed a film after this.

Today Kaagaz ke Phool is a part of syllabi in many film schools. It is considered to be the finest self-reflexive film to have ever been made in India.

Because of Hong Kong’s status as a special administrative region of China, there are close ties between the two economies, and many Chinese companies are listed on the Hong Kong Exchange.

Chauri Chaura is a village in the Gorakhpur district of Uttar Pradesh.

It became famous in 1922 after a violent incident between British Indian police and political activists that occurred there. This took place during the Non-cooperation movement.

On February 02, 1922, the locals were found to protest against the rise in meat prices. Many were beaten, and a few leaders were sent behind bars at the Chauri Chaura police station. This incident led to a different protest against the police. On February 04, around 2,500 people walked towards the Chauri Chaura market, intending to shut down a liquor shop. Police fired several rounds in the air to disperse the agitated crowd. However, the crowd lost control and started throwing stones at the police.

When things got out of control, a sub-inspector ordered shots to be fired into the crowd, killing three people. This angered the crowd further and forced the police to retreat and take shelter in the police station. The protesting mob then set fire to the police station, killing 22 policemen who had taken refuge inside.

The Chauri Chaura incident shocked Gandhi and prompted him to undergo a five-day fast. A week after the Chauri Chaura incident, Gandhi decided to call off the Non-Cooperation Movement on February 12. Gandhi believed that people were yet not ready for a non-violent movement and that adequate training needed to be given to the masses.
