Tawang, a scenic hill station and Buddhist pilgrimage site in Arunachal Pradesh, is approximately 500 kilometers from Guwahati, the largest city in Assam. The most common way to travel there is by road. By road, you can take the National Highway 13 (NH13) or the Guwahati-Tawang Highway, which offers a scenic drive of around 12 to 14 hours by car or bus, depending on traffic and road conditions. However, please note that the journey involves crossing high-altitude mountain passes and requires permits due to its proximity to the Indo-China border. Alternatively, you can opt for a helicopter service from Guwahati to Tawang, which provides a quick and breathtaking aerial view of the majestic Himalayas, taking approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Both road and air options provide easy access to Tawang’s pristine landscapes, ancient monasteries, and cultural heritage, offering visitors a unique and immersive experience in the remote corners of Northeast India.
