Photographic memory, or eidetic memory, refers to the ability to recall images, sounds, or objects with great precision after only a brief exposure. While true photographic memory is rare, some people have highly developed memory skills that allow them to remember details vividly. This ability is thought to involve superior visual processing and memory encoding, though the extent and accuracy of photographic memory are still debated among scientists.
