Female mosquitoes suck blood for the purpose of obtaining the necessary nutrients to develop and lay their eggs. Blood contains proteins and other nutrients that are essential for the development of mosquito eggs. After feeding on blood, female mosquitoes will use the nutrients obtained to produce eggs, which they then lay in water or other suitable breeding sites. It’s important to note that only female mosquitoes feed on blood; male mosquitoes typically feed on plant nectar and other sugary substances.
