The first known written constitution is attributed to the ancient city-state of Mesopotamia called Sumer, specifically the Code of Ur-Nammu, which dates back to around 2100-2050 BCE. It was written by Ur-Nammu, the king of Ur, and is one of the earliest examples of a set of laws that outlines various aspects of governance and justice.
