devika rani she was the first dada sahib-phalke award
The Dadasaheb Phalke Award was first given out in 1969. The first person to receive it was actress Devika Rani. She was honored for her great contributions to Indian cinema at the 17th National Film Awards. This award ceremony started a tradition of celebrating remarkable people in the film industry.
