Late Arun Jaitley was the first chairman of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council. Goods and Service Tax is a system of taxation which will merge many individually applied taxes into a single tax.
Navin Kumar was the first CEO of GST appointed in 2013. Later, in 2018, Prakash Kumar took over as the CEO of GST. In 2014-2019, Arun Jaitley was the CEO of GST and in 2022, R. S. Sharma became the CEO of GST.
