The Cabinet Mission of 1946, sent by the British government to India, included three key members:
1. Lord Patrick Lawrence – The then-Vice President of the Council of India.
2. Sir Stafford Cripps– A senior Labour politician and Chancellor of the Exchequer.
3. A.V. Alexander – The First Lord of the Admiralty.
Their mission was to negotiate with Indian leaders to find a solution to the constitutional problems and to facilitate the transfer of power from British rule to Indian hands.
