Firstly instagram was founded by “Kevin Systrom” and “Mike Krieger” . They launched the social media platform in October 2010. Kevin Systrom is particularly noted as one of the key founders and was the CEO of Instagram during its initial growth phase. Basically this app with a broader set of features, it eventually pivoted to focus on photo-sharing, which is what it’s primarily known for today.
Later In 2012, Instagram was actually acquired by Facebook for a cool $1 billion. The founders, Systrom and Krieger, stayed on to lead Instagram for a while under Facebook’s ownership.
And finally things became a bit bumpy a few years later. There were reports of disagreements with Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg about the future direction of Instagram. In 2018, Systrom and Krieger ultimately decided to leave Facebook altogether.
