He is credited with developing high-yielding varieties of wheat and advancing agricultural techniques that significantly increased food production, particularly in developing countries, during the mid-20th century. His work is credited with saving millions of lives from hunger and famine, and he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1970 for his contributions to world peace through increasing food supply.
