This book he talks about the an account of how he lost his candidature for the post of President of India in 2002, due to certain manipulations in the Congress. In the past he mentions his experience as principal secretary to the then Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi and later to Rajiv Gandhi. This book explains unravels that stage of his life. He also accounts as to why Indira Gandhi was compelled to call in the Army to carry the Operation Blue Star and the consequences of them. The book also explains the behind the scene structure that led to teh dismissal of Dr. Farooq Abdullah`s Government in J & K.
