Sir C.D. Deshmukh was the 1st governor of independent India. He serves from 1943 to 1947.
Independent India’s first RBI Governor was Sir Osborne Smith. He served as the Governor of the Reserve Bank of India from 1935 to 1937, during the British Raj era. He continued as the Governor after India gained independence until 1943.
