The first Muslim dynasty established in India was the Ghaznavid dynasty, founded by Mahmud of Ghazni in the early 11th century.
The very first Muslim ruler of India is Mohammad Ghori who invaded India with the objective of ruling the country. He laid the foundation for Muslim Rule in India and is also known as the ‘founder of Muslim Rule’ in the country.
Though he was defeated in the First Battle of Tarain in 1191, he defeated Prithviraj Chauhan in the Second Battle of Tarain in the year 1192.
Later on, he defeated other rulers of various provinces in India to expand his kingdom.
Mohammad Ghori passed away in the year 1206 after being attacked in the Dhamyak District of Jhelum (Now in Pakistan).
